Szalamandra House

Introduction

The Salamandra House, managed by the Aggtelek National Park (ANP) and located at the entrance to the Stud Valley in Szögliget, operates as the ecotourism base of the ANP. The forest school base with an area of ​​2.5 ha has accommodation for 60 people, a lounge-diner and an equipped kitchen. It is suitable for camps, field exercises and class trips, as well as for accommodating individual guests.

The Salamander House is located within the protected area of ​​the Aggtelek National Park, about 2 km far from the village of Szögliget, in the Ménes-völgy, at the foot of Szádvár. A few kilometers away can be found the ruined village of Derenk, whose inhabitants were settled in the early 1940s. Their memory is preserved in a permanently open exhibition in the building of the former school of the former village, which is still the only one in the village.

The Salamander House is an excellent starting point for hiking or cycling, both in the direction of Szelcepuszta-Jósvafő and the romantic Alsó-hegy, where the troughs, ie the vertical shaft caves, are the densest in the world. In the Ménes-völgy, Ménes-tó, which is also a fishing water, can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes on foot. There is a built-in bacon frying place and a source of clean water, the Hideg-kút.

In addition to Bódvarákó, the Rákóczi Cave (currently not available) on Esztramos-hegy which is one of the underground jewels of the Aggtelek National Park (with its rare formations), is within easy reach by bike.

Due to the epidemic, only one group can stay in the house during the same period, it is forbidden to receive additional groups or families in addition to the existing guests!

A valid reservation is possible for a group of at least 15 people, for a minimum stay of 2 nights!

Tourist accommodation (3-bed rooms with shower and 6 and 8-bed rooms with shared shower)

Adult: HUF 5,000 / night / person

Child: (between 3-18 years old and retired): 3,500 HUF / night / person

Free for children under 3 years

In case of renting the whole house, 140,000 HUF / night is to be paid.
