Tour Details

Station 1: Surface Explorations

Abandoned mine buildings and machinery – industrial ghosts of the past

  • On the surface of Esztramos Hill, there are relics of iron ore and stone mining. Abandoned buildings, old pits and rusting machines tell stories of past industrial activity. We can admire the contrast between the mining areas now reclaimed by nature.

Panoramic view - industrial ruins and the wild beauty of nature

  • From the surface, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the Bódva Valley, so you will be impressed not only by the industrial monuments, but also by the natural beauties.

Station 2: Underground Adventures

Mine cuts, rollers and openings – the heritage of industry

  • Walking through the underground passages, you can learn about the mine's structure and the technologies used to mine iron ore. The old shafts and openings exude a mysterious atmosphere and provide a true experience of discovery.

Földvári Aladár Cave - A hidden world deep underground

  • The Földvári Aladár Cave fascinates visitors with its unique stalactite formations and geological curiosities. The discovery and subsequent preservation of the cave is closely related to the surrounding mining activity.

Rákóczi Cave – The underground emerald world

  • One of the most famous caves on Esztramos Hill is the Rákóczi Cave, covered with pea stones. The cavities and emerald green lakes formed in the limestone provide a magical, almost otherworldly sight. The cave is highly protected, so it can only be visited with a permit – this is provided as part of the tour.
